Our Campaign shall not stop till RTI activists’ demands are met : Urvashi

Uttar Pradesh Campaign to Protect RTI (UPCPRI)   kick starts its campaign with proposed token protest in Lucknow to strengthen RTI movement.

Uttar Pradesh Campaign to Protect RTI (UPCPRI) is organizing one day protest in Lucknow at dharna sthal opposite Vidhan Sabha on 15th July 2012 to press its nine plus point charter of demands with the government of Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking on the issue, Urvashi Sharma, Coordinator of the campaign told that it was the brainchild of Yaishwaryaj Seva Sansthan and two other NGOs of Uttar Pradesh which decided to start a statewide campaign to recuperate the ailing RTI in Uttar Pradesh. Later, other leading activists joined hands with UPCPRI.

“Initially, we submitted our nine point charter of demands to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Then we went to the RTI users across the state with our nine point charter of demands and a signature campaign was launched in support of our movement. More than 400 RTI users of the state had already endorsed our charter of demands and the numbers are still counting.  RTI users have raised additional demands also which along with our charter of demands shall be included in the final memorandum to be handed over  to the CM, Governor and the leader of opposition of Uttar Pradesh at a later date for which we have approached the respective offices .” told Urvashi.
