Islamabad: A three member’s bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard the case of missing persons in Balochistan on Monday.
During the court session Chief Justice of Pakistan directed the IG FC and IG Balochistan to submit a joint statement in the case of missing persons in the restive province and the chaotic law and order situation.
According to the sources IG FC Major General Obidullah Khattak appeared before the court today. IG FC while arguing in court stated that FC and ranger in Balochistan had come under attacks 800 times. Attacks told are carried out by Baloch freedom fighters. The three member bench heard the case, headed by CJ Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
Responding to IG FC statement CJ said” If you are defending certain measures taken, the court still cannot shut its eyes to them.”
The Chief Justice expressed his displeasure over the matter and stated that there was evidence showing that FC was involved in extra-judicial abduction of Baloch people in the province. The chief justice moreover said that there was evidence showing FC involvement for illegal abduction of Baloch activists.
Justice Khalil Arif Hussain during the hearing told Maj-Gen Obidullah those fingers from missing persons relatives are being pointed at him. Denying the statement IG FC told FC was itself looking for missing persons. Answering to him CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry stated that “who should one turn to if the Rangers and the police fail to recover the missing”. On the other hands Voice for Baloch missing persons chairman Nasrullah Baloch told that FC and military agencies are involved in abducting of Baloch people in restive province. Moreover he alleged that today more than 14,000 persons missing in Balochistan among them 415 mutilated bodies had been recovered in different areas of Balochistan, who are told to be whisked away by FC and Military intelligence (MI).
The court directed Inspector General Balochistan Police and Maj-Gen Khattak to submit a joint statement in the case.
The case’s hearing was later adjourned to May 21
