Moscow, July 6 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia’s lower house of parliament, the Duma, Friday approved a law that prohibits advertising alcohol drinks in the Russian segment of the Internet and print media.

The law will come into force from Jan 1, 2013, as print media have annual contracts with advertisers and should have the opportunity to fulfil the terms of their contracts, Duma member Igor Rudensky said.

Experts and market participants polled by the Prime news agency said it would be hard to enforce the ban and it might result in an outflow of advertisers to foreign websites.
