I am not here to tell you a fairy tale, yes part of my article might sound like you are reading one like “Commando” a novel by Tariq Ismail Sagar”.
But it’s not a piece of fiction. I am here to ask two questions that if this story is true, how Pakistani intelligence was compromised to let that man in so deep and how many more are in there?
ISPR might be able to answer that. But they won’t.
So let me tell you the tale and let you people judge to decide about its authenticity.
Ravinder Kaushik was born in Rajasthan on 1952 to J. M. Kaushik and Amladevi. J. M. Kaushik was an Indian Air Force Officer then who after retirement join textile Industry.
Ravinder 21 ,was an aspiring theater artist who was picked up by some RAW /CIB Officials who watched his acting skills at a National Level dramatic meet held in Lucknow for upcoming theater artists.
RAW pour all his energy in polishing Ravinder skills, they taught him urdu, endowed him with proper knowledge of Islam and with basic geographical knowledge about Pakistan. He was even circumcised to give him a proper Muslim look.
After 2 years of training, RAW launched Ravinder into Pakistan Under the Alias “Ahmed Shakir” in 1975 . This new Pakistani identity was created in Dubai for Ravinder. This operation was Named “Red Snatch”.
Ravinder started living under his newly identity in Karachi, and Joined University of Karachi for LLB. After 4 years of education in 1979 he joined Pakistan Army as a Commissioned Officer.
His information in later years make Indian armed forces killed 20 to 30 Pak Army Troops time to time at Kashmir Border due to Ravinder updated Position information to Indians.
In this all years he married to a Pakistani Girl “Ammanat” and have a daughter from her.
It was only in 1983 due to one of the message courier “Inayat Massiah” who was coming to Pakistan was Intercepted by Pakistan Intel Agency in “Sialkot” which blew up his cover.
Ravinder Kausik was taken in custody and for next 2 years he remain in Pakistan Army custody for questioning, what was the results from that is still unknown.
In 1985 he was placed in a Court trial for treason in which he was given death sentence, which was later pardoned by Ghulam Ishaq Khan who banned death sentence and turn all death sentences in to life sentence.
From 1985 till 2002 he was kept in Mianwali and then Multan Jail where he died due to TB.
This is not a fictional Story , This story first raised in The DailyTelegraph Calcutta around 2002 , then it was the main theme for the Book “Mission to Pakistan” by Maloy Krishna Dhar a former CIB Officer who later confirmed in his interviews that this book is based upon the real life story of Ravinder Kausik.
After that in 2009 it was reported various times in “Hindustan Times ” and others news papers but it never get the Hype as RAW don’t want to show that he was back at all this.
Why I write all this is for a very simple reason. To get answers of some questions:
- Why Pakistan Army didn’t catch him in the early stage of his induction to Army, they do proper back checks but was his cover that solid that Pakistan Army didn’t find a loop hole.
- What were crucial the information that were passed on to India by him that period and how much damage this had done.
- Last and the most importantly, do we have more Indian Agents in our Armed forces whom we don’t know?
This all should be answered someday. Period.
